Hate no Hama stretches offshore to the east of KumejimaAbout 7 kmIt’s a pristine white sandbar. You’re sure to be moved by the breathtaking view of blue ocean and white sand stretching as far as the eye can see!
The only way to reach the island is by boat, and you’ll generally need to join a tour to get there. Since there are no facilities to provide shade, be sure to take thorough precautions against sunburn before you go.

The Flat Stones of Okushima
The Tatami-ishi rocks on Okujima feature a landscape of pentagonal and hexagonal rocks spread out like a turtle’s shell, and in 2014,National MonumentIt has been designated as such. It is believed to have formed when magma cooled and solidified approximately 6 million years ago.
Since it’s easier to see at low tide, be sure to check the tide table in advance. Okujima is connected by a bridge, so you can stop by in a rental car.
